Assignments for Wednesday, May 6th
Reading: ▢ Read for at least 25 minutes from a book of your choice. You do not need to complete a reading log.
Words can be broken down into different word parts - root or base words, prefixes, and suffixes. We add word parts to base words to change the meaning. A prefix goes at the beginning of a word and a suffix goes at the end of a word. Click here to watch the Brainpop movie, Roots, Prefixes, and Suffixes.
Along with the ten target vocabulary terms selected from the Lesson 23 anchor text, The Journey of Oliver K. Woodman, we will also be studying the meanings of five suffixes (-ful, -y, -ous, -ly, and -er) and how we can add these suffixes to base words to change their meanings. The fives suffixes are defined on the poster below.
▢ Practice breaking the suffix and base word in the each of the words listed on the worksheet below. Write your answers as equations, like the first example that has been done for you (sing + er = singer). You can either print the worksheet or you can create your own answer sheet on a blank sheet of paper. Submit to ClassDojo.
