Homework Expectations Students will be assigned homework on a daily basis (Monday-Friday/weekend). Students will be assigned homework in reading, math, and spelling on a daily basis. Students may be assigned homework in additional subjects, such as science, social studies, and social-emotional learning. Students will be assigned aminimum of 30 minutes of homework per day. Homework assignments will be recorded in student agendas at the end of each school day. Homework assignments will also be posted on ClassDojo if needed.
Students are responsible for bringing home all materials needed to complete the day's assignments. Any homework handouts are distributed to student mailboxes. Students are responsible for collecting these homework handouts alongside any additional mail and placing said mail in their red school-home folders. Both student agendas and school-home folders are to be used as methods of student organization and parent/guardian communication. These two materials are expected to be taken home each night and return each morning. In addition, students may also need to bring home other materials, such as math workbooks and reading textbooks, dependent on the daily assignment. Students are provided a list of items to take home each day and are responsible for using that list to pack their belongings.
All homework assignments are due back the following school day unless otherwise specified (i.e. project). An assignment will be accepted for half credit if turned in the next day following the assignment's due date. Assignments turned in any later will not be accepted, and therefore will be recorded as a zero in the grade book. Extensions to due dates will not be granted for failure to bring home necessary materials. An absent student, excused or unexcused, will be granted two days for each day absent to make up homework assigned on the day of the student's absence. No credit will be given to assignments submitted past the two day mark.
